Pharmacy college was not for Ray Mirra Jr, who left school after one year to work at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia. It was there that he gained skills and knowledge about the pharmaceutical business. In 1979, Mirra left his job at Hahnemann to start working at Jack Schwartz Compounding Pharmacy. Pharmacy graduate, Raymond Mirra Jr, took the opportunity at Hahnemann Hospital to test his love for the pharmacy business. In two years, he moved to the corporate world of Levitz Furniture, where he helped open and run their pharmacy in Cherry Hill. He then moved on to become a Supply Chain Manager and Senior Director of Operations at Furniture Brands/HBC. In 2010, he assumed his current position as General Manager of Operations and Supply Chain at Sun Company
After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1977, Ray Mirra Jr. began working at the Hahnemann Hospital as a pharmacy technician. He became a certified pharmacy technician in 1978 and returned to graduate school at Drexel University School of Pharmacy to study clinical pathology. In 1981, he succeeded in achieving his master's degree in clinical studies and later returned to Hahnemann Hospital to work as an assistant pharmacist in Montgomeries department.

Raymond Mirra Jr grew up as the son of a successful pharmacist in South Jersey who operated the Mirra Pharmacy. He was destined to be a pharmacist. But what he chose instead was a different career path. Nevertheless, this young man has made an impact in the healthcare industry through his career choice of Pharmacy Technicians .
Ray Mirra Jr started working as a Pharmacy Technician in Southeastern Pennsylvania in 1977. Out of the hospital setting, dispensaries were popping up everywhere and pharmacies were slowly becoming the health maintenance organization of the future. Ray Mirra House was built with hard work he did in his life. Mirra had realized that. Joining hands with two pharmacists, he passed his exam and became licensed informing to open up one of the first community pharmacy locations in South Jersey. His entrepreneurial drive has continued to grow throughout his career, growing from a single location to now owning 12 Rite Aid Pharmacies throughout Southern New Jersey.
This greatly expands his presence and expertise in the pharmaceutical community while setting him apart as an authority on patient care, customer interaction and pharmacy practice. The partnership has proven efficient with over 25 years of combined experience in the pharmaceutical field, continuous training and continuing education both nationally and internationally.
Raymirra's Education and Adult Life
Ray Mirra Jr, PharmD is the Pharmacist-in-Charge at the Camden New Jersey Walgreens store. Dr. Mirra has held this professional title since August 2005. Dr. Mirra is a graduate of Saint Joseph's University and acquired his Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1977. It was about that time, Raymond Mirra Jr married Alice Firestein, who he met at college.Still, Raymond Mirra did not let this discourage him from pursuing his primary career choice. Instead, he focused his efforts on finding employment in the retail pharmacy business. He soon landed a job as a sales pharmacist at Wertz Brothers Pharmacy, then under the ownership of Martin J. Wertz and Albert Guarnieri.
Ray Mirra Jr. joined Hahnemann University Hospital's Pharmacy Department personnel at the beginning of 1977. It was a pivotal moment as during that year, the department was solely dependent on in-house mail order service. Raymond Mirra Jr. had three primary responsibilities: to prepare prescriptions for outpatients at their request, to process the in-house mail order service, and to assure good communication between the pharmacy and outpatients.
Today, Raymond Mirra Jr remains a vital part of Chandler's team, co-owner and managing partner in the East Park Healthcare Pharmacy where he has been working for over thirty years. Ray also serves as the principal consultant for My Apothecary, LLC, an online health website that serves as a resource for patients, caregivers and pharmacists about medications.
